Ти vs Ви

You could get confused only by 2 pronouns meaning ‘you.’

The pronoun “ти” means:

  • you (1 person, informal). That is to say ‘you’ to your friend or close family member.

The pronoun “ви” has two meanings:

  1. you (1 person, formal). That is a person who is older than you or is your boss, and you need to show him or her your respect
  2. you (=all of you). It is about more than 1 person with no difference in formal or informal relations you have with them.

I tell more (and sing!) about personal pronouns in episode 2 of the Ukrainian Lessons Podcast; go there to listen to them more and get some useful Ukrainian phrases about saying hello, goodbye, and thank you.
